A medium voltage vacuum breaker also known as vacuum circuit breaker or VCB is used for protecting the system, specially the transformer. VCB’s main part is vacuum bottle and it acts as arcing control medium. Higher contact resistance and lower insulation may produce higher arcing and consequently can be caused fire or flowing overcurrent to the system. For this reason, a proper maintenance should be done on VCB. NFPA 70B provides all the guidelines for a proper maintenance of a VCB. The capabilities of testing and inspection of VCB are as below.
